|BREAKING! Gunman Walking Through Tacoma Neighborhood Shooting At Homes - YouTube|
The Pierce County Sheriff's Department says a gunman is now inside his house with multiple firearms after randomly shooting at homes in Tacoma's Browns Point neighborhood.
Detective Ed Troyer tells KIRO Radio's Ron & Don Show the gunman was moving through the neighborhood in the 5800 block of 13th St. Ct. NE around 4:00 p.m.
He warns people to stay clear of the area, including all media.
"His firepower is strong enough to reach the helicopters."
Troyer says the shooter may have some mental health issues and he may have been drinking today.
The man is refusing to come out of the home or put down his weapons. A SWAT team has been called to the scene.
"This is a very dangerous situation for citizens in the area and first responders," says the sheriff's office.
Troyer says it's still unclear if there are any injuries from the earlier shootings.
"We're going to have to get into houses and take a look," he says.
KIRO Radio's Brandi Kruse is on her way to the scene. This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
