Vybz Kartel’s lawyer, Christian Tavares-Finson, argued today in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate’s Court that the crown could prove that his client was in possession of the banned substance at the time of his arrest.
Kartel, who real name is Adidja Palmer, was arrested in September last year at a hotel in Kingston. The deejay along with three others were charged with possession of ganja. Kartel, however, was escorted by law enforcement to several properties he owns or frequently visit, where an extensive search was carried out and several equipments seized including laptops.
Two of the other co-accused pleaded guilty to the marijuana possession charge.
Magistrate judge Maxine Ellis agreed with Tavares-Finson’s argument and subsequently dismissed the case.
Vybz Kartel is still facing two more serious murder charges in relation to the death of Clive “Lizard Williams and Barrington “Bosie” Burton.
