Morgan student admitted eating Joppa man's body parts

A 21-year-old Morgan State University student has been charged with first-degree murk in the k!lling of a man whose dismembered remains were found in a Joppa home and nearby church trash container, police said.

According to charging documents, Alexander Kinyua allegedly admitted to eating the victim's heart and portions of his brain.

Kinyua's arrest came almost a week after Kujoe Bonsafo Agyei-Kodie, 37, first went missing Friday, and followed a search of the home the two men apparently shared in the 500 block of Terrapin Terrace in Joppatowne early Wednesday morning, police said.

Kinyua was scheduled for a bail review hearing this afternoon in Harford County District Court.

Monica Worrell, a spokeswoman for the Harford County Sheriff's Office, said today that Agyei-Kodie had been reported missing, but information collected by detectives "didn't pass the smell test" and detectives located evidence that led them to believe a crime had been committed. On Monday, police released a public appeal for help in locating him.

Late Tuesday night, Antony Kinyua, notified police that his son, Kinyua's brother, had found what they believed were human remains in the basement of the house, according to charging documents. Upon their arrival, Jarrod Kinyua told police he found a human head and two human hands inside metal tins, under a blanket in the laundry room.

When he asked Alexander Kinyua about the remains, Jarrod Kinyua said his brother denied that they were human and said they were animal remains, according to charging documents. After calling his father, Antony Kinyua, downstairs, the pair discovered the remains had been moved and Alexander Kinyua was washing out the metal tins.

With a search and seizure warrant for the location, deputies were able to locate the head and hands on the main floor of the house, according to charging documents. They also interviewed Alexander Kinyua, who allegedly admitted that he had k!lled Agyei-Kodie by cutting him up with a knife and afterward, ingested his heart and portions of his brain.

Kinyua also directed police to Town Baptist Church, in the 500 block of Trimble Road, to find the rest of the remains, which were found in a Dumpster on the property, according to charging documents.

The charges are not Kinyua's first in recent weeks, and a previous arrest and Kinyua's online postings point to a troubled man.

On May 20, Kinyua, who otherwise does not have a criminal record in Maryland, was charged with first-degree[..]ault and reckless endangerment in Baltimore in connection with an incident that allegedly occurred May 19 at the Thurgood Marshal apartments, according to court records.

In that case, according to police, Kinyua "randomly" attacked another Morgan State student in a doorway of the apartment complex with a baseball bat, then fled into a nearby wooded area. The victim, listed as Joshua Ceasar, suffered fractures to his skull, arm, shoulder, as well as blindness to his left eye. The first responding officer saw Ceasar stumbling toward her, with blood coming from his forehead, and the officer noted a large amount of blood in the doorway.

Kinyua was ordered held on $220,000 bond in that case.

On May 25, what appeared to be a plea from his parents for help paying Kinyua's legal fees in the case from was posted on the website Mwakilishi.com, a Kenyan news site. The post, which has since been removed, said Kinyua had been arrested for "being involved in a fight in his dormitory room at Morgan State University."

The online plea says, "In order to get him the best defense possible, we need to secure an attorney who will take his case and leave no stone unturned."

It also states a fundraising event was scheduled at the International Christian Community Church on Sunday. He was scheduled to appear at a preliminary hearing in that case June 19.

In the days prior to the arrest, he had posted several strange messages on his Facebook page, in all capital letters. In two of the posts, he uploaded "QR Codes," bar code images that when scanned with a smart phone lead to a web page. They both led to the following message about the "destruction of the black family":

In another, he wrote about campus shootings and "[rip] cults":

Jasmine Bloomfield said Kinyua was known around campus – "he was always all around campus involved with things" – but often acted strangely. He was "always in his own little world, preaching everywhere he went and talking about how he was writing a book." Once, she said, he got up during a screening of a documentary and started yelling about the struggle of black people.

But his page also shows Kinyua in the fall smiling at a campus event for student organizations, showing off a jacket for the National Society of Pershing Rifles, which according to its website is a fraternity for students in Reserve Office Training Corps program.

Late Wednesday, a man who answered a phone at the number listed said Antony and Beatrice Kinyua were "resting," and that the family did not wish to speak to the media without an attorney present.

Hulk prankster left green after using permanent paint....

A PRANKSTER was red in the face after painting himself green - when his new colour wouldn't wash off.

Brazilian man Enrique dos Santos,35, a swimming pool attendant, was trying to look like superhero The Hulk but used a paint reserved for ballistic missiles and nuclear submarines.

The comic book fan tried to scrub off the glossy green in the shower, but the substance stained his skin.

360 Deals are they worth it???

The Musician's Guide To The 360 Record*Deal - MTT - Music Think Tank

What Is A 360 Deal?

Simply put, a 360 deal is a business relationship between an artist and a music industry company. It doesn’t have to be between record label and artist, as seen in the 2007 360 deal signed between Madonna and promoter Live Nation (Jay-Z signed a similar deal in 2008).

In the terms of a 360 deal (also known as a Multiple Rights Deal), the music industry company provides financial support to the artist, including direct advances and funds for things like marketing, touring and merchandising. However, in return the artist must agree to give the company a percentage of everything they are involved with, including revenue from album/ track sales, ticket sales, merchandising, and even any books the artist writes or movies the artist appears in are considered fair game under the terms of a 360 deal. > 360 Deals are they worth it? - Photo posted in The Hip-Hop Spot | Sign in and leave a comment below!

Why This Is Good For An Artist:

Gives the company the incentive to establish a long-term and prosperous relationship with the artist

The past trend within the music industry has been to advance the artist enough money to make one album (this is partly responsible for the one-hit wonder phenomenon). Companies were looking to make a quick buck, and only needed one strong single to sell an entire album. However, with the introduction of online music stores such as iTunes and Amazon where you can purchase everything from a single track to an entire album, this model is no longer a viable way of doing business. The label is now on the look out for recording artists who have talent, artists who can create a catalog of strong albums that fans will want to purchase.

Why This Is Bad For An Artist:

- Far less ‘quick change’ for the artist

Though the company is now pursuing a long-term relationship with the artist, each short-term revenue stream will equate to significantly less money for the artist. Here is an except from an article written by entertainment lawyer Bob Donnelly that appeared on Billboard.biz:
“The 360 deals that I’ve reviewed require the artist to relinquish between 5% and 50% of revenues from sources other than record sales.

To illustrate this point, let’s use 20% as the percentage that the record company is seeking from an artist’s live touring income. If that artist is paying all of the traditional touring costs (e.g. hotels, transportation, etc.) as well as paying her manager a 20% commission, her booking agent a 15% commission, and her lawyer and business manager 5% each, then that could result in a record company receiving half of every net touring dollar which winds up in the artist’s pocket.”

Now that the involved music industry company owns stake in the brand as a whole, they stand to make significantly more money as the artist branches further out. While it is no secret that in the past, labels have been known to apply significant pressure to artists by pushing them into making more albums (aka more money) for the label, these companies can now use this same ‘influence’ to persuade artists into making business decisions that may not reflect their own best interest.

How Much Will The Label Take?

Since the concept of a 360 deal is still a fairly recent phenomenon, these contracts can vary in terms of the percentage you will owe to label. But in order to illustrate the kind of percentages that a label or music industry company may take, here is another excerpt from the NY Times article discussing a recent 360 deal written up by Atlantic Records:
Atlantic’s document offers a conventional cash advance to sign the artist, who would receive a royalty for sales after expenses were recouped. With the release of the artist’s first album, however, the label has an option to pay an additional $200,000 in exchange for 30 percent of the net income from all touring, merchandise, endorsements and fan-club fees.

Considerations To Be Made Before Signing:

- Is the label merely participating in revenue streams from activities managed and controlled by the artist or will the label be managing and controlling the touring, merchandise or marketing activities and/or collecting the revenue from those activities and accounting to the artist.

360 Deals have music industry companies becoming involved with more aspects of an artist’s career than ever before. It is important to be sure that the company has the proper manpower and expertise to properly manage aspects like touring and merchandising, which they previously had nothing to do with.

- Make sure you understand the terms of the contract! The 360 Deal is a relatively new concept, and as such there are still multiple formats floating around:
- Which revenue streams are involved?
- What percentage of each stream do you owe to the label?
- What services will you be receiving in return for giving the label a piece of most, or even all of your revenue streams?
- What constitutes a breach of contract?

- Bring A Lawyer. This is standard operating
procedure when dealing with most contracts, but because of the complicated nature of the 360 deal contracts, and the ability for labels to find loop holes, it is especially important for a lawyer to review the terms of the contract with you so you don’t get roped into something you may have missed.

Mary J. Blige Accused of Running a Scam Charity...

Mary J. is a deadbeat diva.

The New York music star’s charity is supposed to empower women but instead has no office, no phone number — and hundreds of thousands of dollars in missing donations.

It failed to file its federal tax returns for 2010, which were due last November, along with its annual state-charity registration. The charity has now been hit with two lawsuits — one claiming the group stiffed musicians at its 2011 fund-raising gala and another saying it defaulted on a $250,000 loan, The Post has learned.

Blige, known as the “queen of hip-hop soul,” touted the charity’s success on the “Today” show in late 2010, saying, “I sent 25 women to college.”

She was promoting her fragrance, My Life, which sold a record 60,000 bottles on the Home Shopping Network during its six-hour debut in 2010. One dollar from each sale was supposed to benefit The Mary J. Blige and Steve Stoute Foundation for the Advancement of Women Now, known as FFAWN.

“I just want to be one of those women to reach out and show women if I can do it, we all can do it,” said the artist, who has often tapped her own hard-luck story of poverty, sexual abuse and drug and alcohol addiction for inspiration.

Where the $60,000 from the fragrance sale and other donations went is a mystery. The group’s 2010 annual report has nothing on its finances for that year.

And just months after the “Today” appearance, the charity began falling apart. It held a star-studded benefit concert on May 3, 2011, hosted by Queen Latifah — an honorary board member of the charity — and featuring appearances by Blige, Jennifer Hudson and Christina Aguilera.

When several of the band members who accompanied the stars went to get paid, the checks bounced, according to court papers.

“We got a whole series of checks — rubber,” said Harvey Mars, a lawyer representing 30 musicians and others.

A lawsuit filed in State Supreme Court in Manhattan this month claims the group is owed a total of $167,252 for wages and penalties for nonpayment. The charity did have cash, though. It borrowed $250,000 from TD Bank in June 2011.

The bank asked for repayment at the end of that year, sent two demand notices this February and got nothing. TD Bank sued the charity a few weeks ago.

A process server delivered documents relating to the suit to the charity’s purported office on West 45th Street last week.

A receptionist at the office, which is the headquarters of Stoute’s Translation marketing firm, said that the charity was no longer there and that she didn’t know where it was.

A source close to FFAWN acknowledged there were problems and said the group had retained a charity consultant, a forensic accountant and a law firm specializing in nonprofits “to look into certain issues.” The source would not elaborate.

Blige founded the charity in 2007 with a former record-company executive, and the duo tapped their celebrity network.

Pinkett Smith sat on the group’s board in 2008. Jay-Z, with whom Blige toured in 2008, joined in 2009.

Blige contributed only $25,000 to her organization in 2009. The sum was a pittance from a performer whose album sales and concerts grossed $43.5 million in 2008, according to Billboard.

While her charity is mired, Blige’s career is soaring. She is starring in the movie “Rock of Ages,” opening in a few weeks.

Jay-Z gave FFAWN $25,000 and Stoute $35,000 in 2009. Gucci ponied up $50,000 and Walmart $33,500 that year.

Mary J. Blige’s charity, meant to empower women, has missing money and unpaid bills, including:

* $60,000 raised by sales of perfume that is unaccounted for
* An unpaid bill of $167,252 for musicians who played at a 2011 benefit concert
* Default on a bank loan of $250,000
* $18,000 spent on a press conference in 2008

The notorious East New York gangster who instilled constant fear into some of the game’s toughest figures and the recording industry’s top music moguls has remained a great mystery to many for several years. His name is one which was recited to the world by his one-time running mate,
Tupac Shakur in “Against All Odds”, as the legendary rapper called the gangster out as a violator of one of the most sacred street codes. “Listen while I take you back and lace this rap, A real live tale about a snitch named Haitian Jack.” Now, it seems that Tupac was not only not so far from speaking the truth, the late lyricist was in fact, DEAD ON

In this exclusive report, HollywoodStreetKing.com breaks the mystic of widely feared Jacques “Haitian Jack” Aganat, and exposes the notorious crime figure as a police informant used to “take out organized crime in the music industry.” When told about the news, one HSK source recollected “come to think about it, everyone who I knew through Haitian Jack is in jail.” Now, the crime boss turned rat is a part of the witness protection program, and calls the Dominican Republic his home.

During his early teens, Haitian Jack began his career as a criminal burglarizing the Brooklyn, New York homes of drug dealers. He quickly gained the title of one of Brooklyn’s toughest street thugs, and formed the ‘Black Mafia’ gang. “His crew was so feared, they could walk down the lines of New York’s hottest night clubs and take every drug dealer’s Rolex and wallet without as much as a peep.” It’s said that Puffy also feared Jack, so much so that he too once gave Haitian Jack $10K and his Rolex watch. Jack even stole a Rolex watch from record executive Steve Stoute. If you don’t believe me, ask Jimmy Iovine.

By the early 90′s rap was ruling the airwaves, and Brooklyn native Biggie Smalls made his debut. Haitian Jack went out of his way to get close to B.I.G., and was eventually introduced to Tupac, by Biggie. Tupac and Haitian Jack immediately hit it off. “Jack provided protection, women and marijuana” and eventually “Jack was unofficially managing Tupac; the two were inseparable.” But, that didn’t last for long. > "A Real Live Tale About A Snitch Named "Haitian Jack.”... - 2Pac/Makaveli - Photo posted in The Hip-Hop Spot | Sign in and leave a comment below!

One night while the new found pair were partying at Manhattan’s Nell’s night club, Jack whispered in a woman’s ear. That’s when “she smiled and walked over to Tupac. The two danced and later returned to his hotel suite. The following day she returned. Tupac took her to his room; they began having sex when Jack’s crew entered the room. The young woman became the victim of date rape.” Jack and Tupac were later arrested in connection to the sex crime. “The two hired the best attorneys and planned strategies for their defense. Jack’s attorney, Paul Brenner, decided to severe Jack’s case from Shakur’s. He got Jack a six-month plea deal.” Tupac ended up going to trial, and was later found guilty of the rape. “Tupac felt betrayed by Jack.” While awaiting his sentencing Tupac “returned to Nell’s and made a fatal mistake: he commented on Jack’s criminal dealings to New York Post.” It was no secret that Tupac believed Biggie and Puffy set him up. I guess you would too if both Biggie and Puffy invited you to a Manhattan recording session which later ended with you being shot several times, including bullets to the head and groin.

Following the tragic ordeal, Suge Knight convinced Tupac to sign to Death Row records. That’s when the East Coast-West Coast feud began. After years of violence between the east and the west, both Biggie and Tupac were dead. Jack had his hands deep in Wyclef’s pockets, and after touring with the Fugees, Jack fell in love with Beverly Hills. He decided to stay in California, and later opened up his own management company attaching himself to artist publishing rights by the fear of the gun.

Not long after, along came the NYPD Elite Intelligence Division’s undercover detective, Bill Courtney, who was assigned his very own unit to take on the task of taking the mob out of the music industry. Bill uncovered Jack’s prime weakness: he’s was deportable. So Bill knew that once he found Jack, he would make him a offer that he couldn’t refuse: join team America or be shipped back to the island of his birth, Haiti. Bill worked with a sharp detective from Los Angeles named Mark Gayman. Together they would sink Haitian Jack, because they had this so-called street thug working for the government, and Jack would snitch on all for his American citizenship papers.

There was once a hit back out on 50 Cent, back east. The hit man on the job later turned an informant, and told Bill he turned the hit over to a man named Ta Ta. Bill told Interscope Records’ Jimmy Iovine he needed all access to 50 Cent’s camp to prevent the murder. 50 Cent was playing at L.A.’s House Of Blues for two nights. On the second night of 50′s showcase, Bill and Mark approached 50 Cent and his manager, Chris Lighty. That’s when they spotted Jack sitting at their table. The detectives suspected Jack was snitching on them too, so they texted Jack a message, telling him the climate in Haiti. Jack replied back to the text “I’ll be a good boy, I’m sorry.” > "A Real Live Tale About A Snitch Named "Haitian Jack.”... - 2Pac/Makaveli - Photo posted in The Hip-Hop Spot | Sign in and leave a comment below!

Jack had no honor. He was a criminal and a snitch, and not even the police trusted him. That’s why once detective Bill Courtney had enough of Jack and his antics, he tricked him and told him that he had the paper work in hand, which would make him an official U.S. citizen. Jack later learned that Bill lied to him, and was arrested and deported. After Jack’s arrest, Bill rummaged through Jack’s personal safe. He uncovered a large amount of crisp, new U.S. currency notes and several photos, some of which were racy images of Madonna with another woman.

During my investigation, I found out that Haitian Jack’s life was filled with smoking mirrors. He’s a man who sold his soul to gain the world, yet received nothing in return. He’s nothing more than a smooth-talking liar…a con man who’s now being sponsored by Akon. Who do you think bought Jack his new Range Rover in the Dominican republic?

Seeing their Memorial Day weekend movie date turn sour, Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez were at the center of an undesirable spectacle in Calabasas, California on Sunday (May 27).

After catching a film at the Calabasas Commons' theaters, the young couple hit the exits to find a pack of paparazzi situated outside - something that's quite the norm for the teen superstars.

Unfortunately, a fed up Bieber ended up boiling over after one shutterbug got "too close" - with an altercation ensuing as Gomez tried desperately to calm her "Boyfriend" singing beau's nerves.

With Justin making a mad dash to his nearby van and loading inside with his lady following the fracas, the couple sped away just moments before police and paramedics arrived to the scene.

According to a GossipCenter source on location, "Los Angeles County paramedics arrived at the Calabasas Commons with the Fire Department and Police arriving moments later following Justin's altercation with a paparazzo. Justin's bodyguard [also] arrived while the photographer received medical attention for an apparent strike to the face."

The insider adds that the shutterbug filed a report with the cops, though there's no official word just yet as to how the incident is going to be handled moving forward. Updates will be made as they become available.

Below are pictures from Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez's movie date/run-in with the paparazzi (May 27).

Miami Police Officer Kills Naked Man Eating Another Man's Face Off...

Naked man killed by Police near MacArthur Causeway was ‘eating’ face off victim

One man was shot to death by Miami police, and another man is fighting for his life after he was attacked and his face allegedly half eaten, by a naked man on the MacArthur Causeway off ramp, police said.

The bloodshed began about 2 p.m. when a series of gunshots were heard on the ramp, which is along NE 13th Street, just south of The Miami Herald building. Witnesses said a woman saw the two men fighting and flagged down a police officer who was in the area.

The officer, who has not been identified, approached and saw that the naked man was actually chewing the other man’s head, according to witnesses. The officer ordered the naked man to back away, and when he continued the assault, the officer shot him. The attacker continued to eat the man, despite being shot, forcing the officer to continue firing. Witnesses said they heard at least a half dozen shots.

Miami police were on the scene, which was just south of The Miami Herald building on Biscayne Boulevard. The naked man who was killed lay face down on the pedestrian walkway just below the newspaper’s two-story parking garage. Police requested The Herald’s video surveillance tapes.

The other man was transported to the hospital with critical injuries, according to police. Their identities were not released.

The incident, which came as crowds descended upon South Beach for the annual Urban Beach Week hip-hop festival, snarled traffic on the causeway for several hours.

In a text message, Javier Ortiz, spokesman for Miami police’s Fraternal Order of Police, said the officer who fired the fatal shots was “a hero.”

“Based on the information provided, our Miami police officer is a hero and saved a life,’’ he said.

Sergeant Altarr Williams, supervisor of Miami police’s Homicide Unit, said a man doesn’t have to be armed to be dangerous.

“There are other ways to injure people,’’ Williams said. “Some people know martial arts, others are very strong and can kill you with their hands.’’

Man Admitted to Hospital for Kidney Stone, Discovers He's a Woman...

ht Steve Crecelius nt 120524 wblog Man Admitted to Hospital for Kidney Stone, Discovers Hes a Woman
A Colorado man who was admitted to the hospital for a kidney stone received surprising news when the nurse came back with test results revealing he was actually a woman.
Denver photographer Steve Crecelius said he’s felt a little different all his life.
“When I was about 6 years old, I started having these feminine feelings, but that was in the ’60s. Wearing my mom’s makeup, I thought I looked pretty,” Crecelius told ABC News.
So when he went to the emergency room five years ago, he wasn’t too shocked when the nurse told him she found traits of both genders in his ultrasound results.
He was intersex, meaning he had both male genitalia and internal female sex organs.
“The nurse is reading the ultrasound and says, ‘Huh, this says you’re a female,’ Crecelius said. “It was very liberating. I had spent so much energy after the age of 13 constantly evaluating how people looked at me and acted towards me.”
Steve, who now goes by “Stevie,” said his wife and their six children accepted his new identity right away.
“We told them individually. Some were in person and some weren’t,” Crecelius said. “Every one of them said, ‘We don’t care one way or the other. We love you for who you are and you’re still my dad.’”
Crecelius and his wife, Debbie, have been together for 25 years and she’s supported him every step of the way, including taking him to buy his first bra.
She told Crecelius, “You know, when I first saw you, I said to myself,  ’He runs like a girl.’”
“I think we were pretty good when she began to mourn the loss of her husband,” Crecelius said. “We worked through what we needed to. The concept of unconditional love is a larger story.”
Intersex is a term used to describe people who bear both external genitals and internal organs, such as testes and ovaries.
A person with the condition may have male genitals along with fallopian tubes and ovaries.
“The condition used to be called hermaphroditism, meaning that person can’t be identified as male or female,” Crecelius said.
According to the Intersex Society of North America, more than 1,500 children a year are born intersex.
For Crecelius, he hopes he can be an advocate for those born intersex and same-sex couples.
“I think of bullying, because I haven’t heard anyone talk about this. It’s important to talk about,” Crecelius said. “People need to be accepting and understand. I was born this way, and loving each other and supporting each other will always be the main factor in our household.”

Girls were not allowed to even have our number. Chris(Stokes) would say that girls were a distraction, but in reality, it was just for his own sexual desires.”
“Chris was gay- he tried his best to hide his sexual appetite from his family, but we knew. Chris would make us (members of B2k) go into rooms and have oral and sometimes anal sex. He often time would take pictures of us engaging in sex acts. To this day, I think he still has those images.”
“Me and Boog (Jarell Houston, known as J. Boog) resisted the most. Fizz and Omari (Omarion) however seemed a lot easier to take advantage of. I suspect it was because Fizz was so much younger and Omari was just gay.”
On Ray J:
“Ray J was cool at first. I was under the impression that he wanted to help me. But just like with Whitney (Houston) he was just looking for someone to use. Ray J said that he was mad about how Chris did us and other artist, but Ray J just wanted airtime.” He went on to say, “Ray J made a diss song about Chris being gay, but that’s the kettle calling the pot black.”
On Bow Wow:
“Bow Wow was younger than all of us, but the record company figured his affiliation with us (B2k) would be great.  I didn’t see it for myself but I was told by Fizz that Bow Wow and he got involved with each other. I didn’t put a lot of stock in it then. It would be a few years until I realize that Fizz wasn’t lying. In 2005 Bow Wow and Omari became “inseparable”. It wasn’t until rumors forced Bow Wow to end the relationships. The gay talk was hurting Bow Wow’s business.”
On Chris Brown:
“They say you never know who knows who. Chris Brown didn’t think about that when he attacked me online.  I have a friend that’s very close to Chris’ camp who told me that Chris was involved with an up and coming songwriter Andre Merritt. So when  Chris started going in calling people ‘gay’ and ‘fags’ I just dropped Andre Merritt’s name. I knew it was true when he decided to shut up.”
Side note: I love how he said Chris Brown attacked him, if memory serves me right, he started in on Chris. Discuss…

MIAMI BEACH, Fla. (AP) — Miami Beach police say a New York Knicks player has been arrested on a bench warrant for not having a valid driver's license.

Sgt. Bobby Hernandez says 26-year-old J.R. Smith was stopped Thursday night on Washington Avenue in South Beach. A routine search revealed the bench warrant and he was arrested.

Details were not immediately available on what led police to stop Smith around 8:30 p.m.

Hernandez says Smith was taken to the Miami-Dade County jail, where officials say he bonded out early Friday.

No attorney for was listed on jail records for Smith, whose legal name is Earl Joseph Smith.

Smith was drafted by the New Orleans Hornets in 2004. He played in China during the NBA lockout last fall and played for the New York Knicks in 2012.

CBS) ORLANDO, Fla. - A year before George Zimmerman shot 17-year-old Trayvon Martin to death, he stood before a City Hall community forum and told the then-mayor elect that Sanford cops are lazy. He came to this conclusion from ride-alongs with the Sanford police, reports The Miami Herald.

"And what I saw was disgusting," Zimmerman said, according to a recording of the January 2011 meeting. "The officer showed me his favorite hiding spots for taking naps, explained to me that he doesn't carry a long gun in his vehicle because, in his words, 'anything that requires a long gun requires a lot of paperwork and you're going to find me as far away from it,'" the Herald reported Zimmerman as saying.

The recording raises new questions in the Trayvon Martin killing about whether Zimmerman, a neighborhood watch volunteer, may have received preferential treatment during the night of the Feb. 26 shooting because of his familiarity with the police department. Sanford police took a national beating over how they handled Zimmerman's arrest, being widely condemned for letting him go home after initial questioning.

Although Sanford Police Chief Bill Lee denied knowing Zimmerman at the time and said Zimmerman had no relationship with the department, city records show emails exchanged between the two when the neighborhood watch volunteer wrote to praise the department's volunteer program coordinator, the Herald reported.

The State Attorney prosecuting the case released a video last week of Zimmerman freely walking about the police station the night of the shooting, unescorted.

"What are the relationships?," said attorney for the Martin family Natalie Jackson to The Miami Herald. "We have always had a concern about the relationships."

Zimmerman sent in his application for the ride-alongs in March 2010, according to city records. Zimmerman said he wanted to go on the ride-alongs to "solidify my interest in a career in law enforcement." Sanford Police said they have no records showing who Zimmerman rode with.

Interim Police Chief Richard Myers said in a statement Wednesday it would be "inappropriate" to speculate or come to conclusions about Zimmerman's comments at the forum.

"Neither the city manager nor the interim police chief were with the City of Sanford at the time the recording was made, and neither were here during the tenure of the former chief,'' Myers said, according to the newspaper. "As a police chief I embrace the notion that transparency helps build public trust, but in this case, the need to preserve the sanctity of a criminal prosecution, for both the prosecutor and the defense, requires us to eschew making any comments that could taint the process."

Zimmerman, who claims he shot Martin in self-defense, pleaded not guilty to second-degree murder and is in hiding.

Wyclef, Puff Daddy and Al Sharpton implicated in cocaine smuggling scandal....

Drug Suspect Quizzed On Jean, Diddy, Sharpton | The Smoking Gun

MAY 23--When accused narcotics kingpin/hip-hop manager James Rosemond met last year with federal investigators to try and strike a cooperation agreement, he was peppered with questions about whether he knew of any criminal activity on the part of Rev. Al Sharpton, Sean “Diddy” Combs, and Wyclef Jean, according to an Internal Revenue Service agent who testified yesterday at Rosemond’s trial in Brooklyn federal court.

Federal prosecutors elicited testimony from Agent Marc Van Driessche about what Rosemond said during a series of nine separate “proffer sessions” in the U.S. Attorney's office attended by various IRS and Drug Enforcement Administration agents, prosecutors, and Rosemond’s lawyer, Gerald Shargel.

During the first session, on October 4, Rosemond was specifically asked about Combs because, “We had information through other witnesses that the defendant may have made an admission to Sean Combs,” Van Driessche testified. Rosemond, the agent recalled, said that he had some prior “business transactions with [Combs] in the music business,” and described their relationship as “cordial.”

The nature of the mysterious “admission” reportedly made by Rosemond, 47, to Combs was not further described.

Rosemond was also asked about his business relationship and financial transactions with Sharpton. Van Driessche testified that he had “known through my investigation that he had some type of business relationship with Al Sharpton, and I just wanted to determine what the extent of that was.” Rosemond told investigators that he “did in fact give Al Sharpton about $10,000 as a donation or a contribution.”

When cross-examined by Shargel, Van Driessche agreed that the Sharpton questions posed to Rosemond by federal investigators involved whether the hip-hop figure engaged in cash transactions with the activist/MSNBC host and if he knew about Sharpton doing “anything wrong.”

Shargel also asked the IRS agent if he knew that Rosemond “represented Reverend Sharpton in an effort to find an outlet for his popularity and his talent, right?” Van Driessche replied, “I knew they had an arrangement, but I didn't know the exact details.”

Investigators then asked Rosemond about his extensive financial dealings with Jean, Van Driessche testified. Rosemond told of loaning the singer “$60,000 in cash that were drug proceeds but Wyclef didn’t know it was drug proceeds.”

Van Driessche explained that in the course of his investigation, “I saw that the defendant had received over $800,000 in checks from companies associated with Wyclef Jean or companies run by Wyclef Jean’s tour manager.” When questioned by Shargel, Van Driessche acknowledged that federal agents suspected that Jean may have been involved in laundering drug proceeds for Rosemond.

“So you wanted to find out if Wyclef Jean, a candidate for the presidency of Haiti, was involved in criminal activity, right?” Shargel asked Van Driessche, who answered, “That’s right.”

In the course of the lengthy probe of Rosemond and his alleged criminal cohorts, federal agents scrutinized business and banking records for evidence of money laundering by Rosemond and Czar Entertainment, his music management company. Czar, prosecutors allege, was a front operation through which Rosemond washed millions in proceeds from the sale of thousands of kilos of cocaine.

Van Driessche’s testimony included no further discussion of the purpose of the $800,000 transferred to Rosemond by Jean and his tour manager, nor whether federal agents are continuing to investigate the transactions. Jean, pictured above with Rosemond, has not been charged in connection with the probe of Rosemond, who faces life in prison if convicted by the federal jury that last week began hearing testimony about his alleged cocaine distribution, witness tampering, money laundering, and obstruction of justice.

At a sidebar yesterday afternoon with prosecutors and Judge John Gleeson, Shargel said that federal investigators were seeking “trophies” when they quizzed Rosemond about celebrities. The attorney added that when Rosemond did not deliver these high-profile figures, prosecutors rejected his bid for a cooperation agreement (which would have spared him from the prospect of dying in prison). Government lawyers rejected this claim, saying that Rosemond was untrustworthy and lied during some proffer sessions.

During one sit down with investigators, Rosemond described how he shipped cocaine and cash from New York to Los Angeles inside cases built to hold musical equipment. During this discussion, Van Driessche testified, Rosemond said that he and an associate “had used music cases to ship firearms to the recording artist The Game.” Rosemond is the longtime manager of the L.A.-based rap star (real name: Jayceon Taylor).

During Shargel’s cross-examination of Van Driessche, the IRS agent testified that Rosemond was also questioned by prosecutor Todd Kaminsky about whether he had any information about the murders of performers Tupac Shakur and Biggie Smalls. Rosemond replied that he knew nothing about the killings that shook the hip-hop industry.

Prosecutors yesterday told Gleeson that they expected to wrap up their case late next week. After that, Shargel anticipates a three-day defense case with about 10 witnesses. During a sidebar, Shargel noted that he asked prosecutors not to share his witness list with the press because, "I don't want some undue publicity,” likely an indication that he plans on calling some well-known individuals to the stand

Mitch Kupchack says shake-up in store for Los Angeles Lakers...

EL SEGUNDO, Calif. -- In the aftermath of a second straight second-round exit from the playoffs, Los Angeles Lakers general manager Mitch Kupchak said Wednesday that a shakeup is in store for the franchise.

"There will be some change," Kupchak said Wednesday after finishing exit interviews with all but one player on the Lakers' roster. He and Kobe Bryant will meet either late this week or early next week near Bryant's home in Newport Beach, Calif. "There will be a bit of activity July 1st, looking at who we can bring back and dealing with the marketplace."

Kupchak would not rule out the possibility of the Lakers pursuing a major trade to get the team back into championship contention.

"Why not? Sure," Kupchak said. "When you lose before you think you should have lost, you have to open up all opportunities."

Nearly half the Lakers roster is set to become free agents this offseason, accounting for the entire bench, except for Steve Blake, who still has two years remaining on his deal. Starting point guard Ramon Sessions could join that group if he decides to opt out of the final year of his contract, worth approximately $4.55 million.

"I have no idea what he's going to do," Kupchak said.

The Lakers won't let Andrew Bynum test the free-agent market as Kupchak said the team will pick up the $16.1 million option on Bynum for next season by the June 30 deadline. However, no decision has been made as to whether the Lakers will commence contract extension negotiations with their All-Star center.

"That's step one," Kupchak said of exercising Bynum's option. "Anything beyond that we'll discuss internally and precede if that's the course that we're going to take."

Another internal discussion will determine the fate of Pau Gasol. The Lakers tried to trade Gasol to Houston before the season began as part of a three-team deal that would have landed them Chris Paul from New Orleans. Gasol could find himself on the trade block again.

"I think he and I are on the same page," Kupchak said of Gasol, heaping praise on the power forward for his professionalism in handling the trade speculation this season. "I have not met with ownership. I do not know what direction the team is going to go, what the parameters are going to be going forward, so there wasn't really anything additional to share with Pau."

Outside of re-signing the players on their roster that are set to become free agents or making a trade, the Lakers are limited in their options to improve because of restrictions in the new collective bargaining agreement that penalize luxury tax teams like L.A.

The Lakers can try to lure a free agent with the mini mid-level exception, worth approximately $3 million per year. They could try to lower their cap number by using the amnesty provision to get out from under one of the weighty contracts on their books, but Kupchak made it sound like the team would continue to hold on to it rather than use it on someone like Metta World Peace, who is owed approximately $15 million over the next two seasons.

They also have an $8.9 million trade exception acquired in the Lamar Odom deal with Dallas that would allow them to absorb a player making anywhere up to $8.9 million without sending another player out in return.

"That's one of the few assets we do have," Kupchak said.

This year's draft is projected to be the deepest it's been in nearly a decade, but right now the Lakers are on the outside looking in. Their lone selection in the draft is a second-rounder at pick No. 60, the last pick in the draft.

"We'll look to improve our position in the draft," Kupchak said. "I can't imagine us being in a position to simply step into a first-round pick. But there may be a way to get up to a little bit better position in the draft."

The GM said he believed the Lakers are still one of the top five or six contenders as currently constructed, but he is clearly fueled by disappointment as he sets out on shaping next season's roster.

"We get graded on the success of the team; that's how it is in this franchise," Kupchak said. "I know a lot of franchises are happy to get to the first round or advance beyond the first round. We certainly did no worse than we did a year ago, but we're disappointed. That's not how we grade ourselves, getting into the second round."

Despite the challenges, Kupchak said he still relishes his job with the Lakers and intends to be back calling the shots next season rather than inquire about one of the general manager vacancies around the league.

"If I weren't here, (Lakers owner) Dr. (Jerry) Buss would probably get 50 phone calls from present and former GMs that would love to have this job," Kupchak said. "That's because it's the best job in the league."
